The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) was formed in 2012, following a merger between the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA). It provides access to criminal record information and decides whether individuals should be barred from working with children or vulnerable adults.
